GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Failure to abide by the following safety instructions may
result in electric shock, fire or serious injury. The term
'power tools' used in the
following instructions refers to portable electrical devices,
whether connected to a power cable or, when powered
by a battery, without a cable.
STORE THIS INSTRUCTIONS MANUAL IN A
SAFE PLACE.
1) Place of work
a) Keep your place of work clean and well-lit. Accidents
may occur when working in an untidy area or with
insufficient lighting.
b) Do not use power tools in an area where there is a
danger of explosions, liquid fuels, gases or powdered
materials. Power tools may spark and cause the
powdered materials or fumes to ignite.
c) When using a power tool, make sure that children
and other people are not near your working area.
A distraction may cause you to lose control of the
appliance.
2) Electrical safety
a) The plug on the appliance must match the mains plug
socket. The plug must not be modified in any way. Do
not use adaptors for appliances that have an earth socket.
Plugs which have not been modified and which fit the
mains socket run less risk of causing an electric shock.
b) Avoid touching other appliances which are earthed,
such as tubes, radiators, cookers and fridges. The risk of
an electric shock is greater if any part of your body is in
contact with earth.
c) Do not use power tools in wet conditions and do not
allow liquids to penetrate their exterior. There is a risk
of electric shock if certain liquids penetrate the power
tool's outer casing.
d) Do not allow an appliance to hang by it's power cable
nor use the power cable to carry the appliance; never try
to unplug the appliance by pulling on the cable. Keep
the power cable away from heat, oil, sharp corners or
moving parts. Damaged or twisted power cables can
cause an electric shock.
e) When using power tools outside, only use extension
leads certified for use outdoors. The use of the correct
outdoor extension lead will reduce the risk of electric
shock.
3) Personal Security
a) Pay close attention and use power tools with care. Do
not use power tools if you are tired, nor if you have taken
alcohol, drugs or medicines. Not paying close attention
while using power tools can cause serious injury.
b) Use the appropriate protection gear and always
wear protective glasses. The risk of injury is significantly
reduced if, depending on the type and the application
of the power tool used, the correct protection is worn,
such as anti-dust masks, correct footwear with anti-slip
soles, a helmet or ear protection.
c) Avoid accidental activation of the appliance. Before
connecting it to the mains, make sure that the machine
is switched off. Accidents may occur if you carry the
appliance by the on/off switch, or if you connect the
appliance to the mains supply while it is turned on.
d) Before connecting power tools, remove all adjusting
tools and fix keys. If there is a tool or key on a rotating
part, this may cause injuries when activated.
e) Always beware. Work on a stable surface and keep
your balance at all times. This will give you a better
control of the power tool, should an unexpected
situation arise.
f) Always wear appropriate work clothing. Do not wear
baggy clothes nor jewelery. Always keep your hair,
clothes and gloves away from moving parts. Baggy
clothes, items of jewelery and threads of hair might get
caught in the moving parts.
g) Whenever possible, use dust suction and removal
appliances, making sure that they are fitted and used
correctly. Using these appliances reduces all dust related
risks.
4) Careful handling and use of power tools
a) Do not overcharge the appliance. Use the appropriate
tool for each specific task. Using the correct tool will
make your work better and safer within the indicated
power range.
b) Do not use tools if the switch is defective. Tools that
cannot be switched on and off are dangerous and must
be repaired.
c) Always unplug the machine before adjusting it in any
way, changing accessories or storing it. This will reduce
the danger of accidentally switching the machine on.
d) Keep tools away from children and other people not
familiar with them. Tools are dangerous if handled by
inexperienced users.
e) Take good care of your machine. Make sure the
moving parts run smoothly, without clogging, and check
for broken or damaged parts that may affect the tool. If
the power tool is defective, have it repaired before using
it again. Many accidents arise from poor maintenance
